Santa Fe is the capital city of the state of New Mexico in the United States. It is one of the largest cities in New Mexico, and it serves as the official seat of the county of Santa Fe.
Santa Fe was established around 1610, meaning that it is the oldest of all the state capitals in the entire United States. Its Metropolitan Statistical Area is inclusive of Santa Fe and eight other counties in the northern part of New Mexico to form the larger Albuquerque-Santa Fe-Las Vegas combined statistical area.
Over the years, Santa Fe has grown to become one of the significant economic, cultural, and financial hubs of New Mexico. On top of that, it currently one of the best tourist attraction spots in the state. Its architectural outline is characteristic of both ancient designs and modern designs, a feature that makes Santa Fe stand out already.
The San Miguel Chapel is so far one of the oldest churches in the entire United States, found in Santa Fe, as is the old still-standing spot is the El Santuario de Guadalupe. Others include the ancient Loretto Chapel, the iconic Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, and the old De Vargas Street House, which is one of the oldest buildings in the US.
The new architecture has been featured in the New Mexico State Capitol building in Santa Fe, an intricate design that has led to its being informally referred to as the 'Roundhouse.'
Numerous museums exist around downtown Santa Fe where visitors are lured into learning a thing or more about the history of Santa Fe and its people. The same goes for the many picture and art galleries as well as memorial monuments.

When to visit Santa Fe

Santa Fe experiences a subtropical highland climate of Köppen classification Cfb, with some notable characteristics of the warm summer humid continental climate of Köppen classification Dfb. The general features of this weather are cold, snowy, dry winters and warm, humid, moderately dry summers.
Winter is cold, and the night temperature may drop lower than 14°F (-10°C) on the coldest days. During the day, however, there are recorded highs of up to 51.8°F (11°C). Snowfall begins as early as October with traces and builds up to fall through April, accumulating on the ground for several days.
Summer has high-temperature ranges, occasionally going as high as 93.2°F (34°C). However, rainfall might be moderately ample on most afternoons, up to 2.3" (58.4mm).
The peak of the travel season to Santa Fe is between June and August, during the height of the summer. This is when the weather is at its best; what with warm days, ample sunshine, minimal rains, and numerous events and festivals to be attended. Considering there are extended daylight hours during this period, touring Santa Fe goes on until late into the evening before the vibrant nightlife kicks off.
The International Folk Art Market is one of the many vents around Santa Fe, and it focuses on showcasing global masterpieces of art and craft handicrafts to the public. Another event is the Spanish Market Festival that aims at celebrating and appreciating the traditions and cultural art and dances of Hispanic origin. The annual Santa Fe Indian Market is held in August in a bid to appreciate the genre of American fine art.
