March is warm at the beginning of the spring season in Arkansas that also brings 4" (102mm) to 5" (127mm) of precipitation statewide. Snowfall is rare except for the northern mountains where it lasts till mid-spring. Northern Arkansas experiences freezing nights occasionally, but the rest of the state rarely sees them. The average high temperatures are in the lovely range of 59°F (15°C) to 68°F (20°C), with refreshing mornings and mild evenings. Much of the state welcomes the growing season with the last of the freezes ending in spring. Eudora in the eastern region registers mild temperatures in the 45°F (7.2°C) to 69°F (20.6°C) zone, while Hot Springs in the central region is slightly milder between 43°F (6.1°C) to 66°F (18.9°C). Early spring melts the snow in the bright 7 hours of daily sunshine to bring fresh water to the rivers and streams. The sweet smell of soil and blooming flowers over the landscape bring an atmosphere of happiness. Fishing and boating activities gather momentum with the end of the cold season. A rain jacket is always useful in Arkansas, including in the wet month of March.
