Weather in March

March is cold at the start of the spring season in Colorado. Day high temperatures average in the warm 42°F (5.6°C) to 60°F (15.6°C) range across different regions of the state but the nights are cold with average low temperatures in the 4°F (-15.6°C) to 34°F (1.1°C). Early spring is not immune to cold fronts, and frosty nights and mornings are common.
A little amount of rain to the tune of 1" (25mm) usually falls in March, and the rest takes the form of snow and ice. Snowfall is ample in the Rocky Mountains and western Colorado, while it tapers down on the eastern side. March is mostly dry, and the sun shines on the horizon for an average of 18 to 20 days in the majority of the state. Durango in the west is cold and averages between 24°F (-4.4°C) to 53°F (11.7°C), while Boulder in the east is relatively warm between 29°F (-1.7°C) to 56°F (13.3°C).
Dress in warm clothes as the conditions are still on the colder side, and nights in Colorado often see a sharp drop in temperatures!
