The pleasant weather during the spring and fall is a far cry from the heat of the summer with the rainfall almost at the lowest of the year. The sea temperatures are in the mild range of 67°F (19.4°C) to 74°F (23.3°C), while the land temperatures remain in the modest range of 57°F (13.9°C) to 82°F (27.8°C). The summer is hot and humid with temperatures scaling new heights that often cross 95°F (35°C) during the day. The hurricane season is most intense from July to September, and severe weather may throw a spanner between vacation plans. Storms can stall the city and close the beaches for extended periods.

Madeira Beach is prone to tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods, especially in the Atlantic Hurricane season that runs from June to November. Tropical storms of category 2 and 3 are common, and occasionally scale up to category 4 and 5 such as Hurricane Irma in 2017.
