Naples has a tropical wet and dry type of climate (Köppen climate classification Aw) with hot, humid and wet summers and short, mild and relatively dry winters. The city lies on the Gulf Coast of Florida in the United States, in the Collier County in the southern part of the state. The nearness to vast water bodies, such as the Gulf of Mexico, and exposure to the warm Gulf current have a significant influence on the climate.

Naples lies at sea level, with one-fourth of its total area of 16.4 square miles occupied by water. The boundary with the Gulf Coast has a 10-mile long beach with magnificent white soft sand that makes it a hot spot for tourism. The landscape is flat terrain, while the nearby water bodies consist of many rare species of marine plants and animals. Saltwater marshes, bays, and natural inlets form a vital part of the marine ecosystem around Naples.
