Boston, the capital of and the most populated municipality of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen classification Cfa).
This climate is characterized by warm and humid summers, cold and stormy winters, and mild but varied springs and autumns. Boston is conveniently located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, but the prevailing winds minimize the effect of the Atlantic Ocean on Boston's climate.

Spring in Boston has varying weather. The first few weeks feel cold, and continue to experience a low temperature and minimal snowfall, gradually warming up to as high as 77°F (25°C). The afternoon rainfall is accompanied by thunderstorms and precaution is advised.
Autumn is mild and pleasant and often has stable weather initially. Towards the end of the season, it gets cold, and Boston already receives the first of its snowfall.

Summer is hot and humid but sometimes varies to become fresh and pleasant. Humidity during summer is high, and the hottest days feel muggy and uncomfortable heat waves are not uncommon during summer, appreciative to the high temperature and many sunshine hours per day.

Winters are cold and snowy, with occasional occurrences of blizzards, which make most days feel colder than registered. Snowfall can be high, resulting in high accumulation on the ground, extended for several weeks. Boston is susceptible to snowstorms and severe cold spells during winter, and additional warm clothing is advised.

The best time to visit Boston is during spring, specifically from mid-May to mid-June, and during autumn from September to early October.
Spring has tolerable weather, and the absence of the winter chill makes it possible for touring Boston and other outdoor activities. The wild blossoms during spring transform Boston into a beautiful garden and fill the crisp, fresh air with sweet flowery scents.
During autumn, the weather is steady and reliable. The temperature is also tolerable as the extreme summer heat cools down considerably to a warm and pleasant range. The excellent fall foliage brings extraordinary beauty to Boston, as the golden-brown leaves dropping off trees leave a lingering magnificence. When reflected in the waterfront and the modern skyscrapers, the fall becomes even more admirable.

The worst time to visit Boston is during winter. The temperature is extremely low and almost unbearable. Also, severe blizzards and snowstorms hit Boston periodically during winter, causing significant harm and damage. The extreme winter chill reduces most outdoor activities considerably. As the snow can remain on the ground for weeks, skating and skiing are the everyday activities to engage in.
Summer is usually crowded and extremely hot. This season is not the best period to visit Boston as you will not only be dealing with extreme temperature, but also weather hazards like thunderstorms.

Boston is susceptible to severe blizzards during winter, making the weather too cold and almost unbearable. Periodically, there will be snowstorms as well, that cause significant damage. During summer, the extremely high temperature causes harmful heat waves, considering the UV index is at its highest point.
