Kalamazoo, MI

Kalamazoo is a moderately populated city that is found in the southwestern region of the state of Michigan, United States. Chicago and Detroit are both in proximity to the city, which is also the current official county seat of Kalamazoo County. Its metropolitan statistical area encompasses Kalamazoo and Portage and is among the largest MSAs in the United States. The same applies to the combined statistical area that makes it to the top one hundred largest CSAs in the United States.
The city of Kalamazoo has a convenient location on the large Kalamazoo River, occupying both its southwestern banks and a part of the northwestern bank. Some parts of the city are found within the vast Kalamazoo Valley while some parts flow off with the nature with moderately small hills and valleys in the western and southern yonder. Because of this location on the Kalamazoo River, Kalamazoo has magnificent outskirts, complete with several lakes, streams, and tributaries of the main Kalamazoo Rivers, hills and valleys, and natural forestry. Among many other factors, these have been circumstantial in the growth of the tourism industry of the city.
As the vibrant educational hub that it is, Kalamazoo is home to several educational institutions, including the Western Michigan University, the famed Kalamazoo College, as well as the Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
Other notable landmarks feature the vast Kalamazoo Valley Museum, where the history of the city has been preserved. More of the history, plus the art and craft surrounding American and European artists, have been preserved away at the Kalamazoo Arts Institute. There is more in the Air Zoo Museum, inclusive of vintage aircraft, flight simulators, and memorable rides.
Family fun in the many fun parks in the city features many outdoor activities and water-related fun activities along the multi-purpose Kalamazoo River Valley Trails. For shopping and souvenir acquisition, visitors throng to the ever-busy Kalamazoo Mall that features outdoor shopping stalls and pedestrian malls.

The city of Kalamazoo experiences a humid continental climate of Köppen Dfa, with a slight bordering on the Köppen Dfb climate. The general characteristics encompass long, hot, and humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Springs are short, variable, but pleasant, and autumns remain mild and lovely.
Winter has the temperature in the highs of 34.7°F (1.5°C) and lows of 16.7°F (-8.5°C) or lower. Snowfall is common and begins as early as mid-November and extends through March. Winter is the drier season, with not more than 4.9" (124.5mm) in the average of total precipitation.
Summer enjoys highs of 84.7°F (29.3°C) and lows of 63°F (17.2°C), with ample sunshine and humidity throughout. Extremely hot days are rare, making an excellent time to visit Kalamazoo. The afternoons receive some rainfall showers, to the tune of a total average of 17" (431.8mm) during the season, across approximately thirteen rainy afternoons.
Kalamazoo is a vibrant year-round destination, priding in its warm and lovely summers and cold, tolerable winters. The peak of the season is during summer, between June and August, when the days are warmest or an excellent outdoor adventure. Between October and November, during the peak of the fall foliage, Kalamazoo may experience another surge in its tourism sector.
The July Kalamazoo Blues Festival and the August Kalamazoo County Fair are some of the most commonly attended events.
