Charlotte has a humid continental type of climate (Köppen climate classification Cfa) with hot, humid summers and cold winters. Charlotte lies in the Piedmont region of the Mecklenburg County of North Carolina, in the southeastern United States. The city is at an average elevation of 232 meters above sea level and lacks distinct geographical features in the form of major rivers and water bodies.
