Burkes Garden in the mountains is refreshing even during the hot summer with temperatures in the 55°F (12.8°C) to 77°F (25°C).
August is the ideal time to visit the mountains where the storms are fewer, and the heat and humidity are lower than the rest of the state. Light sweatshirts are suitable during the hot days of summer. Expect the temperatures to gradually decline by the last week of August in Virginia.
