Woodbridge is a moderately small census-designated place that is found within the county of Prince William, in the United States. The census-designated place is located beautifully near both the Potomac and Occoquan rivers and is comprised of only one portion of the magisterial district.
Woodbridge is moderately developed to include various amenities, including schools, shopping malls, hospitals, and a modern transportation road network.
Visitors are treated to fun outdoor activities in the city, including swimming, and boating in the Potomac River. The National Wildlife Refuge is home to numerous exotic animals and plants preserved for the public to view like the bald eagles, for instance. Picnicking and hiking activities go on in the Lee Sylvania State Park and the famous Veteran Park. The nearby Rippon Lodge offers tours and photography sessions during the peak of summer, too.
The census-designated place of Woodbridge experiences a humid subtropical climate, which is classified as Cfa under the Köppen climatic classification. The weather features summers that are warm to hot, humid, and moderately dry and winters that are cold, moderately snowy, and mildly wet. Scorching days during summer are rare, as are extremely chilly days during winter. Spring and autumn are short and mild, acting more as transitional seasons.
Spring, from
March through
April, has the mercury stretching to between 55.4°F (13°C) and 66.2°F (19°C) during the day and between 35.6°F (2°C) and 44.6°F (7°C) at night. Ample sunshine during the day makes it possible to enjoy the outdoors under the freshly-scented blossom fields in the parks around the city. Picnicking and photography are common during the season.
Summer begins in
May and ends in mid-
September. It is crowned with warm temperature ranges in the highs of between 75.2°F (24°C) and 87.8°F (31°C) and lows of between 53.6°F (12°C) and 69.8°F (21°C). The temperature barely goes above 95°F (35°C), making it an excellent time to visit Woodbridge. The daylight hours are extended to fourteen, making it a great time to discover the area even late into the evening. Rainfall in summer averages 3" (76.2mm) per month, majorly falling in the afternoons and is accompanied by light storms.
Autumn extends from mid-September through
November. The high summer temperature cools down to read between 57.2°F (14°C) and 71.6°F (22°C) during the day and between 37.4°F (3°C) and 48.2°F (9°C) at night. The fall foliage brings a stunning golden-brown illumination through the city, and picnicking becomes a significant activity under the crisp air.
Winter begins towards the end of November and runs through
February. The temperature drops further to highs of between 42.8°F (6°C) and 46.4°F (8°C) and lows of between 30.2°F (-1°C) and 26.6°F (-3°C). The nights are chillier than registered as the temperature occasionally drops lower than 17.6°F (-8°C), and the cold winter winds dominate the season. Snowfall is common, albeit in light amounts that do not last more than a few days on the ground.
The rainiest month in Woodbridge is September when the rain gauge collects a high 4" (101.6mm) in precipitation. March, May, and
July are moderately wet, too, receiving an average of 3.8" (96.5mm) in rainfall. The driest month is February, with only 2.8" (71.1mm) in precipitation and not more than five days of rain.
The period between April and
October is the best time to visit Woodbridge, during late spring through early autumn. Excellent weather and numerous festivities dominate the period.
