San Diego is a beautiful city in the state of California, USA, which is renowned for its fantastic climate throughout the year and beautiful sprawling beaches with deep natural water harbors. It is one of the largest cities in the US and the second-largest city in California.
San Diego is located conveniently on the Pacific Ocean coast and is bordered by Los Angeles and Mexico. Considered the birthplace of California, the Old Town of San Diego is crowned with numerous museums and galleries that preserve the culture and history of the people dating back as far as 1769 during the first settlement by the Spanish.
The cityscape is made up of magnificent architecture, featuring both modern and ancient designs. One such structure is the iconic white Casa de Balboa, an ancient building that has since been made a Palace of Better Housing. The San Diego Coronado Bridge is another of the most frequented spots by visitors, from where the entire city can be viewed and taken stunning photographs.
The entertainment and nightlife of San Diego are one of the most vibrant, as featured in the many clubhouses, discotheques, bars, and lounges around the city. High-end shopping malls and upscale eateries and restaurants are spread throughout the city for visitors to be served accordingly, especially as seen in the famous Hotel del Coronado.

When to visit San Diego

San Diego experiences a semi-arid climate, which is classified as BSh in the Köppen climatic classification. The climate borders closely on the Mediterranean climate of Köppen Csa and Csb, because of the periodic fog experienced during summer. Generally, the weather features summers that are dry, warm to hot, and humid and winters that are mildly cool and moderately wet. The climate of San Diego is pleasant all through the year, and it has been classified as one of the best weather in the US.
The temperature throughout the year averages highs of between 76.6°F (24.8°C) and 89.6°F (32°C), and lows of between 48.7°F (9.3°C) and 68.2°F (20.1°C).
Extremely scorching days during summer are cooled down by the winds from the Pacific, even though most of the days have as many as ten hours of hot sunshine. Summer is extremely dry, with most days going by without a single drop of rain, especially in June, July, and August. The humidity score sticks to an average of 74.1% throughout the season.
Winter is mildly cold and highly tolerable, as the temperature rarely drops below the freezing point. The days have up to seven and a half hours of sunshine, and the daytime temperature averages 70.3°F (21.3°C). The afternoons remain moderately wet, though with minimal rainfall.
Many weather-related occasions determine the time to visit San Diego. The city remains welcoming all year round, with the majority of visitors being received between June and August, during the peak of summer. The period between December and February, during winter, is an excellent time to go to the beach as it is clean and less crowded.
Several events are held throughout the year, including the memorable Fleet Week during autumn, when San Diego celebrates and appreciates its military people in stunning Navy ship tours and air shows, among other activities. Another event is the Comic-Con International Festival held in July, in a bid to celebrate comedy, written or filmed.
