Washington is formally known as the District of Columbia and is the capital of the United States. The city was named after George Washington, the Founding Father and the First President of the United States. Washington is currently one of the most famous cities in the World and is also one of the most toured cities in the World. The city was established in 1791 and has since grown to become one of the most populated cities in the United States, and is now the seat of all the three branches of the U.S. Federal government.
Located on the Potomac River, Washington is crowned with iconic and large monumental buildings intricate architectural buildings like the White House, the Capitol building, and the iconic Supreme Court. More attractions are found at the famous Kennedy Center for performing arts, the iconic Washington Monument, and other memorials of the famous people like Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr.
Several museums in Washington preserve the history of the people like the Natural History Museum, the Air and Space Museum, and numerous other Institutional museums.

When to visit Washington

Washington is one of the most visited cities in the United States and the World every year. It is located conveniently for the same in the mid-Atlantic region and is bordered by Maryland and Virginia, as well as Alexandria counties.
The climate of Washington, D.C. is humid subtropical and is Köppen classified as Cfa. The weather is characterized by cold, chilly winter with light snowfall episodes and hot, humid summers. Both spring and autumn are mildly warm, both devoid of the extreme chill and heat of the previous seasons.
During winter, from December to mid-February, the temperature is low, ranging between 26.6°F (-3°C) and 47.3°F (8.5°C). The nights get chilly, as do the early mornings, during which time the temperature may drop lower than recorded. Snowfall is common during winter, although it is light and may not hold on the ground for long. The average precipitation in Washington during winter is 0.1" (2.5mm) with approximately nine rainfall days per month.
Summer is hot, with the temperature reading as high as 98.6°F (37°C) or more on the hottest days and 61.7°F (16.5°C) on the coldest nights. Summer receives ample rainfall that collects at an average of 0.2" (5.1mm) on the wettest days. The rainfall days in summer average ten per month and with the rains falling mainly in the afternoons, visitors have an excellent time to tour the city.
The prime tourist time in Washington is between March and June, during spring and early summer, and during the fall after summer. Spring is pleasant with the moderately warm temperature and absence of the chill and snow of winter and is one of the most beautiful seasons owing to the beauty that is found in the parks and gardens from the blossoming flowery trees. Autumn is even more pleasant with the lingering golden illumination as a result of the fall.
The most commonly attended events include the highly sought-after annual Cherry Blossoms Festival that happens between March and April, during spring amid the colorful decorations and the lovely weather for picnicking and sight-seeing around Washington. Another special event is the Christmas Eve celebration that is celebrated by lighting the Grand National Christmas tree in winter.
