The climate of Lake Buena Vista is of humid subtropical type (Köppen climate classification Cfa) with hot, humid and wet summers and mild, relatively less rainy winters. The city lies in Orange County in the central part of Florida in the United States. The Atlantic Ocean and the warmer waters of the Gulf of Mexico chiefly influence the climate of Lake Buena Vista.

Lake Buena Vista is the home of the Walt Disney World and lies at a low elevation of 29 meters above sea level. The topography is mainly flat with about 96% of land and 4% water. Plenty of greenery and numerous resorts occupy a significant part of the city. The city derives its name from the adjoining lake that is a small body of water east of the Buena Vista Golf Course. Bonnet Creek is a canal that divides Lake Buena Vista and the adjacent city of Bay Lake.
