Rain is omnipresent and register 5" (127mm) to 7" (178mm) in many regions with a higher incidence along the coast.
Snow is regular with an average of 8" (203mm) to 9" (229mm) in the northern parts and more in the highlands and mountaintops. Days start to become shorter with the advent of winter, and the average sunshine drops to 5 hours.
The ski season usually starts in November as many enthusiasts gather on the mountains, unaware of what to expect - beautiful sunshine, glistening snow, or a snowstorm!
